Driving west at the former "blinking light" following Rt. 64, there's a wide open space before and after the Gorge Bridge. This is the highest suspended bridge in north America, made famous in the movie Easy Rider. It looks likes a mini-Grand Canyon! Long horned sheep can be seen climbing on these jagged rocks, and below there is white water rafting and natural hot spring pools. And there are hiking and cycling paths too. The newly expanded Taos Airport is here, as well as the Earthship community. Earthship structures are intended to be "off-the-grid-ready" homes, with minimal reliance on public utilities and fossil fuels. They are constructed to use available natural resources, especially energy from the sun and rain water. And they are amazing! The views here are big...watch for UFO's.
